You can't pour from an empty tank.

It's not a personal failing. It's physics (or math or something).

When your empathy tank, or your physical/emotional batteries are on empty, you have to recharge. And although you can get help and support from others, there is a component that relies on you being willing to engage with rest, comfort and connection to recharge. It's vital.
