Circling back to the theme of "what do I want?"

Today I am thrilled to be joined by Dr Toyosi Onwuemene, a Board-Certified Hematologist, Clinician Researcher and Assistant Professor at Duke University. Dr Onwumene shares her story of navigating a path to clinical research after being told that she didn't have the necessary background. She shares her story of learning to quit people-pleasing, and how she is now coaching other Physicians who want to start a Research Position, but lack the mentorship and support they need to get started. Even if you are not in Academic Medicine, there are a lot of pearls here that we can all learn from.

Dr Toyosi Onwuemene is a board-certified Hematologist, a Clinician Researcher and an Assistant Professor at Duke University. She completed medical school and residency at Duke University prior to her Hematology Fellowship at Northwestern, and also has a Master’s in Clinical Investigation. She specializes in rare thrombotic disorders, with the goal of enabling early diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications. In addition to these roles, Dr Onwuemene is a Professional Coach for Academic Clinicians looking to build a Research Program, but lacking the Mentorship and Support to succeed.
